Rupert Knights has joined our London office as partner, bringing more than 15 years of experience to the firm.

Rupert joins us from IP firm in Hertfordshire, where he had been a partner since 2013. He has particular expertise in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.

After graduating from Loughborough University, Rupert spent three years at the UK Patent Office as a patent examiner. He started as a trainee patent attorney in 2005 and has specific experience with mechanical, electrical and software arts inventions. Rupert has secured patents for a wide range of devices including military and medical equipment, oil and gas exploration and drilling, scaffolding and formwork as well as consumer electronics.

Rupert expressed how thrilled he was to join our team. “Forresters is a well-established and ambitious international intellectual property firm that is committed to further growth across its five offices in the UK and Germany,” he said. “The firm has an excellent reputation for its work securing patents and trade marks for clients around the world, and is known for its approachable and highly-skilled team. I’m excited to be working with the London office and to continue the great work they are doing”.

Managing partner Lloyd Hoarton commented: “We are delighted that Rupert has joined Forresters. Following the promotion of three of our team to partners earlier this year, we have been keen to find another partner who would be the right fit to support our positioning as a leading intellectual property firm. We have no doubt that Rupert will make a significant contribution to the growth and future development of our firm”.
