Forresters has welcomed new starters and promotions at its Birmingham office, with the appointment of a new Partner, Equity Partner and Marketing and Business Development Manager, signalling a strong year for the leading UK intellectual property firm.
Joining from a competitor practice, Binesh Patel has been appointed as a new partner at Forresters’ Birmingham operation. He is a highly experienced European and UK patent attorney and brings more than 18 years of experience to Forresters’ team. Mr Patel has practiced law in the Midlands region for 18 years and has experience working with a wide range of clients of different sizes, including universities in the UK and Ireland, Midlands based SMEs and multinational corporations across a number of industries, such as software, telecoms and medical devices.
He commented: “Forresters have always been an impressive firm looking in from the outside, and now that I have been here for a few weeks, my first impressions from within are excellent too. The move to Forresters is a natural fit for me and it’s an exciting time to have joined as I believe there is excellent scope to develop my practice here, as well as to continue working with clients across North America and China. Many of my clients seek protection worldwide; I have good links to those jurisdictions and I know I can service them all excellently at Forresters.”
In addition, Janette Hamer has been promoted to Equity Partner after having been with Forresters for just over two years. Janette has extensive experience advising businesses on global IP strategy and protection, and specialises in trade mark and design prosecution, exploitation, enforcement and portfolio management on a national and international level.
Janette Hamer commented: “I’m thrilled with the promotion and look forward to continuing my career at Forresters and contributing to growth and mentoring others starting out in their careers.”
Forresters has also expanded its marketing team with the appointment of Judy Gardner as Marketing and Business Development Manager, with responsibility for the firm’s marketing and new business strategies.
“Joining Forresters during this exciting period of growth has been quite a journey so far. I am very much looking forward to building upon existing relationships with our local partners and driving forward a number of initiatives to help raise Forresters’ profile as a leading IP firm within the Midlands region and beyond,” said Judy.
Matthew Shaw, Equity Partner at Forresters, commented: “I am delighted with Binesh and Judy’s appoinments, as well as Janette’s promotion – there are lots of exciting projects for our new arrivals to get involved with. The recent changes to our team highlights Forresters’ strong performance as a business and I am confident that we will go on to have a successful year and achieve our business goals for 2018.”
