I graduated from Kiel University with a Diploma in Biology focusing on plant molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry. I gained particular experience in gene expression and protein expression studies, and I later deepened my knowledge at the Institute of Plant Breeding at Hohenheim University/Stuttgart where I worked as a scientific assistant for several years.
I began my career in the Munich office of an international law firm, focusing on the fields of vaccines and pharmaceuticals, and later worked many years at a law firm in Munich dealing in particular with German patent office proceedings.
My focus is patent prosecution including contentious matters. I am also experienced with providing infringement and validity opinions, as well as opinions on freedom to operate. I have extensive experience in drafting patent applications, in particular for German patent prosecution.
My technical expertise is focused on biotechnology, and I am also experienced in handling subject-matter such as computer-implemented inventions, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and a variety of subject-matter related to automotive engineering, and mechanics.
I am a passionate traveller and enjoy exploring the world. I go hiking and on bicycle tours, or I just enjoy staying home and trying out a cooking recipe that I brought home from one of my travels. I also do voluntary work for German Canadian cultural exchange and German Canadian business development.
