I joined Forresters in 2001 and became partner in 2006. I am the resident partner at our Liverpool Office, which is based in the majestic Port of Liverpool Building, one of the world renowned, “Three Graces”.
I have been in the profession for over twenty years. With a technical background of biochemistry, I primarily specialise in providing advice in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals including biologics and medical devices. I particularly enjoy, and am well versed in, contentious proceedings. I have a lot of experience in running opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. I was part of the team that successfully defended a patent covering the TAXUS stent, which went all the way to the Supreme Court in the UK (Conor Medystems Inc. vs. Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc.) I was also the attorney responsible for the now much cited Board of Appeal decision T1780/12, which dealt with the scope of the different formats of therapeutic use claims and double patenting before the European Patent Office.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf with my son at Caldy Golf Club. I am also a season ticket holder at Liverpool Football Club. The atmosphere at Anfield on match day is second to none, especially when the crowd sing, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” before kick off.
