I graduated from the University of Oxford (New College) with a first class Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2005 and been with Forresters since then.
I work mostly in the drafting and prosecution of patents in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields. The technical fields I work in are diverse, ranging from small molecules to battery technology, from lubricant additives to carbon capture solvents, and from medical device coatings to inks. I also have experience in preparing freedom-to-operate and due diligence opinions, and representing clients in opposition and appeal hearings before the EPO.
I regularly file UK and European patent applications and I am involved in obtaining patent protection throughout the world. Having obtained patents in many different countries, I am able to draft patent specifications with multiple jurisdictions in mind.
I am a non-executive director of PAMIA, the mutual insurance company through which the great majority of UK and Irish patent and trade mark attorneys in private practice obtain their professional indemnity insurance. This role gives me good insight into best practice for firms such as ours. I am a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Outside of work, I play guitar and listen to all types of live music. I enjoy running, having recently completed a half marathon. My next goal is to complete a full marathon.
