My work involves drafting and filing patent and design applications in the UK and Europe; and developing and implementing cost-effective filing strategies across the world. I have been actively involved in successful opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and regularly prepare validity and infringement opinions.
I represent a range of clients, from large multinationals to start-ups and spin-offs, and so am well-versed with the challenges each faces.
With a first class Masters degree in Integrated Engineering, my core practice is in the mechanical and electromechanical fields. I prosecute applications across a broad range of technologies, including: mass spectrometers, microfluidic devices, valves, pumps rheometers, medical devices, construction equipment, ejection seats, mattresses, consumer products, engines and tribology.
Before joining Forresters in 2004, I was a Patent Examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office, gaining insightful knowledge of the inner workings of the UK patent system, allowing me to offer a balanced perspective when handling examiner’s objections.
I am a member of CIPA’s International Liaison Committee, which helps build relationships between the UK and overseas patent professions, and am also a foreign member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA)
In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, photography and, above all else, making my children laugh.
