Forresters Liverpool office continues growth with appointment of trainee IP attorney

Intellectual Property specialist Forresters has taken on a new trainee Trade Mark attorney at its Liverpool office.

Stephanie Thomas, 25, is the latest addition to the firm, which recently announced the appointment of four new partners.

Stephanie has a strong background in sciences, having attained BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from St George’s University of London before achieving a Graduate Diploma of Law.

She will work alongside senior associate and Trade Mark attorney Kate Cruse, with a client list including Cavern City Tours, Suzuki GB PLC and Herbalife International, Inc.

Stephanie said: “Forresters is an ambitious company with offices across the UK and Europe, so I’m very excited for what the future holds. They promote a personal and friendly environment which encourages learning and communication.

“I’ve got so much to learn and this is the ideal place to grow, especially with the support of Kate and the other qualified attorneys here at Forresters.”

On her decision to pursue a career in Intellectual Property, Stephanie said: “This is a niche area of law but one that every business or organisation will need support with at various stages of their life cycle. A Trade Mark is vital in protecting a brand both in the UK and internationally, but can be a complex process to negotiate.”

Kate Cruse said: “This is a good period of growth for the Liverpool office and we felt the time was right to bring in a talented trainee. Stephanie’s scientific background will be a great asset for the Trade Mark team here in Liverpool.”

Stephanie added: “I’ve loved Liverpool since moving up here – as a young professional it’s like a mini London with so much to do, but everyone is much friendlier!”

Forresters was recently ranked as a ‘Top Three’ British filer for EU Trade Marks for 2016, with filing figures up 20pc on 2015. The firm has also once again achieved 2017 ‘Legal 500 – Leading Firm’ status for Trade Marks and Patents.
