EPO Fee Increases from 1 April 2020

The EPO has announced increases to some official fees with effect from 1 April 2020. Most fees have risen by approximately 4%. Notably, however, the appeal fee has risen by 20%.
In many cases, it is possible to achieve some small savings by paying fees early, at current rates, before the introduction of the new fees on 1 April 2020. Renewal fees may be paid up to 3 months in advance, so any renewal fees due by the end of June may validly be paid early at the current rate. The official fees payable upon entering the European regional phase or filing a divisional application will also increase, so early filing should be considered.
These EPO fee increases will not affect our service charges, which will remain the same after 1 April 2020.
