Black Country Business Wins Heroes Award

Celebrations are taking place at a Black Country business after it received an award for its work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
ADL Bespoke Security Systems won the Start-Up Business Hero Award at the recent Black Country Chamber Business Heroes Awards. The award, which we sponsored, aimed to pay tribute to new businesses that had gone above and beyond during the pandemic.
ADL is based in Bushbury Lane, Wolverhampton and managing director Dave Eastment said the award meant a lot to the company. “The awards event was excellent, the Chamber did a fantastic job and when we saw Emma Johnson at Forresters announce our name I was absolutely over the moon,” he said. “For the business to receive the award within one year of opening is amazing – it’s a testament to all the hard work we have put in over the last 12 months”.
During the pandemic ADL diversified to put up information screens in schools, and at Pelsall Village Surgery. They also created a hands-free system at the doctor’s surgery involving motion sensors and cameras to enable patients to check in for their appointment, without needing contact with a receptionist.
Emma Johnson, partner in our Birmingham office, said: “We were very impressed by the response of ADL to the Covid pandemic. For such a new business to have diversified its range of services, and also to have given back to the community by offering some of their services free to NHS staff, for example, was quite remarkable.
“We also saw how the directors made personal sacrifices in order to protect their employees’ jobs and salaries. This business faced the pandemic head on, and made 2020 a positive year. It was clear that the Black Country is very important to ADL and they obviously see supporting other local businesses as essential, meaning that the success of this company will have a positive knock-on effect with other businesses throughout the Black Country”.
Runner up in the category was SBF Consultancy in Wolverhampton for its support of small local businesses and other start-ups during the pandemic.
Ryan Bird, business development manager at SBF, said: “During the pandemic we saw how companies hadn’t prepared for remote working, and this is something we were able to help them with. Our aim is to help companies grow by assisting them with their admin, marketing, website development and lead generation. To receive this recognition is a fantastic feather in our cap and it means so much to us to have achieved it within our first two years”.
