My background, before embarking on a career in IP, was in physics, and my degree from the University of Birmingham included a liberal dose of astrophysics. My patent work is focussed on mechanical and electrical inventions, but covers a broad spectrum of technologies, from printing apparatus to pneumatic braking systems. In addition to helping my clients to obtain patent protection around the world, I also have experience in contentious matters, including oppositions before the European Patent Office and entitlement disputes. Having also qualified as a trade mark attorney, I am able to offer an ‘all-round’ service to clients, and assist them in protecting their trade marks and designs in the UK, Europe and beyond.
I enjoy spending my time away from the office with my family. Whilst I still enjoy reading and foreign travel, these days, my reading material is mostly children’s fiction and poetry and long-haul flights are not so appealing! In my spare time, I am the leader of a company of about fifty Girl Guides, and in addition to our weekly meetings, I organise camping trips, days out and fundraising events for charities chosen by the girls.
