IP Talk Will Give Innovative Businesses A Head Start

Businesses that want to get ahead of their competitors can sign up for a free talk by one of the region’s experts on intellectual property.
James Cornford, partner at the firm, will be sharing advice on how securing patents, designs and trade marks can help protect the future of innovative businesses. The talk ‘IP: getting the basics right’, which is taking place on June 16th, is being featured as part of a virtual conference in the lead up to the Business Innovation South Expo.
The expo, which takes place later this year at the Hilton Hotel at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, has been postponed several times due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19. Organisers planned for talks to be held on the day in person, but in view of Covid-19, a decision was made to hold them live via video conferencing.
In his talk, James will be giving advice, in clear and jargon-free language, on the steps businesses need to take to get IP protection in place. “I’ll be answering some of the questions we get asked regularly by innovators and business leaders, such as how to identify the many aspects of a business that can be protected”, he said. “In today’s connected world, successful businesses need to protect themselves from copycats and competitors, and so it is essential that they know how to protect their intellectual property.”
James’ session starts at 12pm on June 16th and will include time for Q&A.
The talk is free to attend. For tickets, visit the Business Innovation South website.
