Forresters Signs Equality and Diversity Charter

Posted:

In a move which cements its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity, Forresters, a leading intellectual property law firm, has signed up to the IP Inclusive Charter.

The IP Inclusive Charter was created in 2015, with the aim of encouraging diversity while recruiting and retaining the talent required to develop and grow the IP profession.

Alena Wilken, Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Forresters, commented: “The Charter is a public pledge to adhere to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of employment practice and workplace ethos. We’re proud to demonstrate our commitment and support for such an important movement.”

By signing up to the Charter, Forresters agrees to adhere to six key targets: to have a named Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer within the firm; to create and actively communicate an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy; to demonstrate merit-based equal opportunities in recruitment and career progression processes; to acknowledge the effects of unconscious bias and introduce measures to tackle it, and to monitor and report internally on progress.

Forresters is a leading intellectual property firm that is active in the UK and internationally in all aspects of patents, trade marks, registered designs and copyright across a broad range of technologies and industries. Known for its success in handling complex matters, the firm also has a particularly strong reputation in prosecution and litigation.

Alongside Forresters, Charter signatories include a number of professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA), the IP Federation, the UK association of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI-UK), the UK Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO) and Managing IP magazine.
