We have recently been announced as a finalist of this year’s Innovation Awards, and we will also be a part of its judging panel.
We are one of the finalists for the Manufacturing Innovation Champion of the Year for the Business Sector award. Also, we have been chosen to be on the judging panel for a number of the other awards.
Finalists are currently making presentations to judges and then winners will be announced at an awards ceremony, which will be held at Birmingham’s Millennium Point later in the summer. The awards, supported by Aston, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham City Universities, celebrate and reward the innovation shown by businesses, organisations and individuals over the last 12 months. Alongside Forresters, judges include industry experts from universities, businesses and key organisations including Make UK, the SMMT, TechNation, Birmingham Tech and the Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands.
Dr Richard Fallon is CEO at The Technology Supply Chain Network, which is organising the awards. He said: “We are thrilled to have Forresters as finalists and judges for these inaugural awards, which acknowledge those businesses that have gone the extra mile over the last year. Forresters deserve to be finalists because the work they do with innovative and creative companies is recognised throughout the business world. We look forward to seeing all our finalists at the awards ceremony, which is already being heralded as one of the most prestigious business events of the year.”
Paul Cadman, professor of entrepreneurship at Birmingham City University, said: “There is some amazing innovation going on in the region and the UK which is just not known about. These awards are an opportunity to recognise the innovators who drive the UK forward.”
Recently we have been recognised as one of Europe’s Leading Patent Law Firms in the prestigious Financial Times listings. Sitting on the judging panel for the Innovation Awards will be two of our attorneys, Dr Jagvir Purewal and Greg Smith, who said they were thrilled to see us reach the finals.
“It is exciting to be finalists for the Manufacturing Innovation Champion of the Year award, which highlights the companies that have had a major impact on that sector,” said Jagvir. “For more than 130 years Forresters has been working with businesses and individuals across a variety of industries to help them secure their patents, designs and trade marks. The last year has seen manufacturing companies stepping up to the plate and creating products that have saved lives. We are proud to support these companies, and it’s exciting that our input is being recognised through these awards.”
Greg said it was a privilege to be on the judging panel for other awards. “At Forresters we have seen just how innovative businesses and individuals have been over the last year. There has been an increase in the number of people making enquiries about how they can protect their latest concepts and designs. At Forresters we are in the privileged position of being able to work with entrepreneurs and designers from an early stage, and see their inventions take shape. We wish all the finalists good luck – each one of them has contributed greatly to helping to make the UK one of the world’s leaders for innovation.”
